Soccer

2023 in Mounthawk saw three individual girls’ soccer teams representing the school. These teams comprised of a Senior, Junior and First Year Team. It was the schools’ first time ever competing in the Girls Munster Championship and going on the talent on show this year we expect  these students will  continue to represent the school on the soccer field in future years.

The senior girls under 19s team were the first ever girls soccer team in the school to bring home silverware.  They won the Kerry School’s League. This was a fantastic achievement considering the team’s two oldest members were only in 5th year.

With such a young squad we can be hopeful that this team will bring back more trophies and encourage more pupils to participate in the ever evolving girls soccer team.

Soccer

Soccer started at Mercy Mounthawk with the establishment of the under 18 team and the school now has 4 teams: U14, U15, U17 and U181/2.

All of these teams play in the Munster Schools competition and the U181/2 team play in Munster and All-Ireland competitions.

Over the years Mercy Mounthawk has produced some very strong players that have gone on to play for the Munster Schools team at senior level.

2018 – 2019

Our 1st Year Futsal team were crowned Kerry and Munster champions in a very successful year. Futsal is a South American version of indoor soccer with emphasis on skill and technique. Our team won every game in the Kerry competition, before competing in the Munster campaign. Again, we were undefeated and top scorers in the competition and went on to represent Munster in the All-Ireland Finals. Huge credit must go to the players who showed phenomenal determination and skill throughout the competition.
