Munster Champions Senior Boys Football

Mercy Mounthawk secured a historic double last Saturday when we won the Corn Uí Mhuirí with a convincing 2-11 to 0-10 win over St Brendan’s Killarney.

Principal John O’Roarke spoke of the significance of the win on Saturday and what it means to the school.

“We’re really proud of the lads and that they got the chance to defend their title, which they did so convincingly. It’s a tremendous achievement for them and a testament to all the work, commitment and dedication of the panel and also the three coaches Aidan O’Shea, Luke Mulligan and Kieran Costello.”

“We started football at C level back in 2001 and it’s fantastic now to have progressed and established a tradition at A level not only in the county, but in Munster and indeed on a national level,” added Principal O’Roarke.

The celebrations are now over as the team focuses on the clash with Ulster champions St Patrick’s Maghera in the All-Ireland Schools semi-final in two weeks time.
